The Johan Schotte Foundation was incorporated in Washington, DC in 2014 and recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in 2015. The Foundation was created as the result of the coming together of three main drives and to address their respective needs:
- The scaling up of the fields of activity of the foundation, which was founded in Switzerland in 2009 as a Swiss private foundation;
- The need to open up the organization to allow donors, benefactors, investors, sponsors, advertisers, and volunteers to contribute in ways otherwise not directly accessible to them;
- The creation of an intuitive global platform to encourage dialogue fostering peace, connecting people to bridge all gaps that interfere with a healthy and rapid human development in order to overcome “man’s inhumanity to man” on the way to an improved world, “a better tomorrow, today”.
All activities of the past 20 years were smaller in scale and anonymous, and therefore did not need to be executed by an incorporated entity.
